I want YOU for special favors
Attention flist! It has come to my attention that there are things I need, but cannot go about getting for myself. Plus some other folks at Lumos are looking for some help. So I'm issuing a plea for your talents. You may spread my plea far and wide.Knitters, ahoy! Myself and the members of the esteemed House of Ravenclare would like to commission some pink and silver House scarves, in our signature colors. Please don't confuse us with Sparkleypoo. If you do, we will politely set down our My Little Ponies or Anne of Green Gables book, apply lipgloss, then karate chop your thick head off like angry!Buffy.Graphic designers and other Illustrator or Quark talented peeps! Lumos 2006 is looking for you. Did you know that? They need some killer graphics for materials, and if you're chosen, you'll be so effing cool that thousands of fangirls will want to have your Mary Sue babies.Femmeslashers and gender-switchers! I want to put together a proposal for a workshop or panel at Lumos 2006. We need to represent. Don't leave me hanging. I'd be willing to organize this effort, though I'm not very good at the presentation stuff. Well..maybe, but we can talk later.

A. I assume this means you and Her Lordship are heading to Lumos?B. I knit. I'm willing to accept a commission or two if sent the specs. C. If you do a panel, of course I'll be there.
Actually, I'm quite a proficient knitter and was planning on making Beauxbatons and Durmstrang scarves for my godchildren for Christmas I found an awesome site for HP patches: http://www.patchpalace.com/welcome.htmI could work on some Ravenclare ones... *g*Look at this website for some stylistic ideas:http://knit.atypically.net/scarves/hogwarts/pattern.shtmlDo you want the "old" house scarf pattern or the "new" one.I am SO at Lumos!! Although I'm not an expert at genderswitch/femmeslash I'm a reasonably good presenter....Lastly, OMG!! Lord Vandemort met Manda(my HP-Ohio buddy) at TWH! I guess they got to know each other at the Quidditch match etc. She said she didn't meet you but saw the shirts and figured you were the Mel I mentioned and later saw you and LV at the Ball). *loves the small fanworld*
OMG small world! Yeah, I think you told me about your friend, but in the bustle of it all I forgot to look for a Manda. So sorry!! I couldn't even find my dueling partner. ;) That's so funny - I'll have to ask LV about it. I missed the Quidditch entirely, as they played earlier than scheduled. *still bitter*YAY!!!! You're coming to Lumos?! *does the happiest dance* AND you know how to knit. The cool thing is I've had quite the response from knitters, but one in our very own Ravenclare house - excellent!I have a SS style scarf (Gryffindor - it was a gift), but I really like the PoA style. I'm also very un-keen on scratchy wool. Not knowing much about how to make un-scrathy scarves, I'd leave that up to the experts. I'm so excited! Do you really want to make some scarves?! We could truly represent Ravenclare at Lumos. XDI might persuade the lovely [info]arifoxhawk to teach me The Knitting, in which case I could make one as well. We'll see how that goes. Btw, very cute that you're going to make Beauxbatons and Durmstrang scarves for your godchildren. Awww. Luckies.
That's right, you're a Master Knitter! Awesome. I may try and persuade you to teach me... I just found out that one of our very own Ravenclares is an avid knitter. Y'know, there were tons of knitters at TWH. I wonder if it's just a coincidence...
I'm not sure if you mentioned that you worked as a presentation designer, but now that I know...*muahahaha* I may exploit ask for your help. :DWe should talk about your graphic design work. Are you interested in Lumos?
Woohoo! I probably will ask for your input. It's an idea in formation right now, but I think it needs to happen.
A. You bet yer booty - at least for me. I think She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is considering it.B. And how! Was there a guy walking around with one of your purple scarves with all 4 house colors? Was that your work?C. Excellent. The more the merrier! After the idea becomes more solid, I'll let you in on my evil plans.
All the cool people knit. =]Master I don't know about, I still am scared to try socks, but I know enough to make decent scarves.I'd be more than happy to show you the basics, and I have a tub full of yarn that's perfect for practicing.
A. Great! And talk her into it - it'll be fun.B. No, he did it himself. His name is Vince, and I think he's on the HP knitting community. And he'll take commissions, too. :)C. Definitely keep me updated. I'm trying to figure out a way to afford this, and if I can, I'm going. If nothing else, I can see the casinos :D

I am SERIOUSLY motivated to go to Lumos! However, scarves/Las Vegas/July, not sure that's a wise combo...LOL! Knitting is quite easy and a scarf is wicked simple, a good first project. To avoid the scratchies go for a nice soft synthetic or cotton yarn, it's wool that gets scratchy. I do alot of baby blankets for gifts and I can be found in the yarn aisle rubbing skeins of yarn on my cheeks to see if they pass the "soft test". *g* Carla and I were discussing what shade of pink Ravenclare would be...she thought ballet slipper pink but I was leaning more towards a Barbie pink (strong pink but not quite a hot pink). Any thoughts?
fangirls wanna have my baby? i'm in!! i love fangirls..:P
Hmm.. I am also leaning more toward ballet slipper pink. Somewhere between that, and sugar cookie frosting pink. (If certain people could hear me now, talking about pink...)The thought about scarves/heat crossed my mind too, but lemme tell you: it was like 80 degrees and 90% humidity in Salem, I swear it. We still walked around in scarves. I think most or all of Lumos is inside the ginormous hotel/resort, so we might be okay.
Haha! I totally want you and lavakitt to go to Lumos! But you, my friend, are not allowed UNTIL YOU READ THE EFFING BOOKS. Sorry to be so harsh, but that is how it must be. *crosses arms* Besides, I think you'd love them. :D
After reading your fic I have decided/been reminded that you must be in on this panel idea. When can we chat?!
Yes! I am so excited about this!I'm online most of the time, so whenever's good for you!Iaimtoappease on AIM, nottimpressed on YM, or you can email me - peariel@gmail.com♥
Hmm... Mentioning Mary Sues and illustration/design in the same sentence just might be enough to tempt me! :)I did some art and design for TWH. (And I'm obsessed with Mary Sues, especially parodies.)I also think I met you at TWH (because someone else I met referred to meeting me and you at the same time)... but I can't remember who you are.
Hullo... I'm trying to remember if/when we did meet. Sorry, it's not ringing a bell, though your name sounds familiar now that I see it on LJ! I wish I had met you!It looks like you're not planning on going to Lumos, but I know for certain that they're looking for people to help them with graphic design. If you check out the website you'll find contact info, or I can just share your name with Lumos people, including bekkio. :D
I'm a knitter- not Master, technically, but at one point I held 3 out of 4 positions in the Nashville Knitting and Crocheting Guild... specs and whatnot would indeed be appreciated. I haven't written femmeslash in HP, only Tolkien, but could help with the proposal if you want. I've been thinking heaps about Lumos and maybe this weekend will look at their call for papers (if they have one; I've been so out of it since returning I haven't looked at the format for Lumos yet), in addition to writing (yay!), lounging (double yay!) and reading your recent recs. I love recs. :)
I'm sure you're right about the hotel/air conditioning/scarf thing.(If certain people could hear me now, talking about pink...)*giggles*Ummm, so we're going for "Dan Radcliffe" pink then?Thinking of us at Lumos in our Ravenclare scarves makes me v. happy!!!
oops, accidentally posted anonymously. see how upset you made me??!!
Hahaha!! So sorry! Awww..reading's not that bad. Anyway, I just said that for your own protection. I heard some people talking at the con - apparently they'd run into someone who hadn't read the HP books. You should have heard the scorn dripping from their words.
I'm reading your Ron fic too! I'm starting with Magic Immunity. Not too far in yet, but really liking it. :D Wow, look at you, champion knitter!
Great pics from TWH! I think I might volunteer when at Lumos next year. I joined the Vegas Room of Requirement yahoo group; just have to fill out the questionaire.
Woohoo! You're going to Lumos! I'm so going to glomp you!! I just joined too because I've been persuaded to join the volunteer team. Sucker. What are you going to do?
well if they do a sketch booth, I'd like to do that.
I'm reading your Ron fic too! I'm starting with Magic Immunity. Not too far in yet, but really liking it. :DYou've made my day. :D :D I loves me some R/D.And I do love to knit- I need to bookmark that place with the House patches someone else on your flist mentioned so I can put them on scarves. People taking commissions are brave. That, or I knit slowly. Or I write too much. :cringe:
